MACES SCHOOLWIDE TITLE I PROGRAM

OVERVIEW OF TITLE I

Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) provides federal funds to schools with high percentages of students from low-income families. The purpose of Title I is to ensure that all children have a fair, equitable, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at minimum, proficiency on challenging academic standards.

Schools qualify for Title I funding based on the percentage of students who qualify for free or reduced-priced meals. These funds are used to supplement and enhance educational programs, provide additional academic support, and increase opportunities for parent and family engagement.

SCHOOLWIDE TITLE I PROGRAM
MaCES operates as a Schoolwide Title I Program, allowing the school to use Title I funds to strengthen the overall educational program and benefit all students. The primary goal is to increase academic achievement for every student, with particular attention to those most at risk of not meeting state standards.

Through this schoolwide approach, MaCES coordinates and integrates federal, state and local resources to enhance instruction, provide high-quality professional development for teachers, and implement evidence-based strategies that improve student learning outcomes.

SCHOOL-PARENT COMPACT
As part of our Title I Program, MaCES develops a School-Parent Compact each year. This compact is a written agreement that outlines how parents, students, and school staff will share the responsibility for improving student academic achievement and building a partnership to help students meet state academic standards.
 This compact emphasizes:

  • Shared responsibility for student learning
  • Regular two-way communication between families and educators
  • Support for students' academic and behavioral growth
  • Engagement of families in school programs and decision-making

TITLE I FAMILY ENGAGEMENT POLICY
The Title I Family Engagement Policy describes how MaCES involves families in the education of their children and in the development of Title I-related plans and programs. The policy is jointly developed with parents and reviewed annually to ensure its effectiveness.
Key components of the policy include:

  • Providing families with timely information about Title I programs and student progress
  • Offering opportunities for family participation in school governance and planning (e.g., School Site Council, English Learner Advisory Committee)
  • Supporting capacity-building workshops and activities that help parents assist their children's learning at home
  • Maintaining a welcoming, inclusive environment that values parent and family input

Through our Schoolwide Title I Program, MaCES remains committed to promoting academic excellence and ensuring that every student has equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities.
