MaCES School Site Council (SSC)

Overview
The School Site Council (SSC) is a collaborative decision-making body composed of elected parents, teachers, staff members, students, and the principal. SSC plays a vital role in ensuring that the school’s programs and resources effectively support student achievement and align with MaCES’s mission and goals.

The purpose of SSC is to provide a structured forum for the school community to participate in shared decision-making regarding academic priorities and the use of state and federal funds. This collaborative process promotes transparency, accountability, and alignment with district and state requirements.

Responsibilities of the SSC
SSC is responsible for developing, reviewing, and approving key plans and expenditures that guide the school’s academic programs and improvement efforts, including:

  • The School Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) which outlines the school’s goals, strategies, and use of resources to improve student outcomes.
  • The allocation of Title I and other categorical funds to support targeted academic interventions, professional development, and family engagement activities.
  • Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the effectiveness of the SPSA and school programs.
  • Ensuring alignment between the SPSA, district priorities, and student performance data.

Through these responsibilities, SSC ensures that all decisions are data-driven, equitable, and focused on improving academic achievement for all students.

Membership and Meetings
SSC brings together school staff and parent/community representatives to collaborate on decisions that support student success. For the 2025–2026 school year, the council includes 12 elected members who serve a one-year term. SSC meets on the first Thursday of each month, and all meetings are open to the public in accordance with the Greene Act and district policy.

We invite families and community members to stay informed—agendas and meeting minutes are posted publicly to promote transparency and encourage participation.

Commitment to Collaboration
At MaCES, SSC serves as an essential link between the school and its community. By fostering collaboration among educators, families, and students, SSC ensures that programs and resources are used effectively to meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all learners.
